Terms of Service

Last updated: 19 August 2026

The short version. Use PianEd to learn piano. Level 1 is free forever. PianEd Pro is a subscription billed by Google Play, which you can cancel any time. Do not cheat the leaderboard, do not try to break the app, and do not resell the content. We will do our best to keep everything working, but we cannot promise perfection.

1. Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of PianEd ("we", "us"). By downloading, opening or using the PianEd app, or by using this website, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use PianEd.

Google Play's own terms also apply to anything you download or buy through the Play Store, and nothing here replaces them.

2. Who may use PianEd

PianEd is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use PianEd only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, and they accept these terms on your behalf.

You may use PianEd in guest mode without giving us anything at all. An account is optional.

3. Your account

If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.

Provide accurate information when you sign up. You may choose any display name that is not offensive, impersonating, or intended to mislead — remember that it appears on a public leaderboard. We may change or remove a display name that breaks this rule.

You may delete your account at any time from inside the app, or by writing to us. See the account deletion page.

4. The free tier

Level 1 of every learning path is free and remains free. It is not a trial, it does not expire, and no payment details are required to use it. We reserve the right to change what is included in the free tier for new users, but we will not take away Level 1 from someone who already has it.

5. PianEd Pro subscriptions

PianEd Pro unlocks Levels 2 to 6 across all three learning paths. It is sold as a recurring subscription through Google Play, in plans covering one, two or five learner profiles, billed monthly or annually.

6. Cancelling

Cancel at any time in the Google Play Store: open Play, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → PianEd → Cancel. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Deleting your PianEd account does not cancel your subscription. These are two separate systems: your account is ours, your subscription is Google's. Cancel in Google Play first, then delete your account if you want to.

7. Refunds

Purchases are made through Google Play, so refunds are governed by Google Play's refund policy and are requested from Google rather than from us.

If you live somewhere that gives you a statutory right to cancel or to a refund — for example the consumer protection rules in the UK, the EU, Australia or India — those rights apply and nothing in these terms limits them. Write to us and we will help you exercise them.

8. What you may do with the content

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use PianEd and its lessons, arrangements, exercises and other content for your own learning, and for the learning of the people covered by your plan's profiles.

You may not copy, extract, redistribute, publish, sell, sublicense or publicly perform PianEd's content, or use it to build a competing product or to train a machine-learning model. The arrangements, lesson text, diagrams and exercises are ours or are licensed to us.

Musical works that are in the public domain remain in the public domain; our particular arrangements and teaching material around them are not.

9. Acceptable use

Please do not:

We may suspend or terminate an account that does any of these, and we may remove scores we believe to be invalid.

10. Changes to the service

PianEd is under active development. We add lessons, songs and features, and occasionally we change or remove something that is not working. We will not remove a substantial part of what a subscription bought you during a period you have already paid for.

If we ever discontinue PianEd entirely, we will give reasonable notice in the app and stop taking new subscriptions before we do.

11. No promise of perfection

PianEd is provided "as is". We work hard to make it accurate and reliable, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every arrangement and every lesson is free of mistakes. Music teaching involves judgement, and reasonable teachers disagree.

PianEd is a learning tool, not a substitute for a teacher, and we make no promise about how quickly you will progress.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, for lost data, or for lost profits arising out of your use of PianEd. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to PianEd is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.

13. Playing safely

Playing an instrument is physical. Stop and rest if you feel pain or discomfort in your hands, wrists, arms, neck or back, and see a medical professional if it persists. Do not play at a volume that is uncomfortable, particularly through headphones.

14. Indemnity

If your misuse of PianEd — in breach of section 9 — causes a claim against us by someone else, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of dealing with it.

15. Ending this agreement

You may stop using PianEd at any time by deleting your account and uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us.

Sections 8, 11, 12, 14 and 16 continue to apply after this agreement ends.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, or of the right to bring a claim there.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we make a material change we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use PianEd after that means you accept the new terms.
